The Annual Edition Of The Complete Guide To Grateful Dead Song Lists
| For six years, we produced annual editions as a supplement to the previous year's complete DeadBase. However modest the original intention, these books have grown into a series of yearbooks for Deadheads. We have produced yearly editions for 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993, adding new features each year. |
DeadBase '93 has 240 pages focusing just on 1993. In this annual edition you can relive this year and explore it at a level of detail not possible in the roman numeraled editions:
The Dead sold nearly 1.8 million tickets, grossing over $45,000,000 for 81 concerts.
The longest show of the year was August 22nd at Autzen, with music totalling 2:52:15. |
See a photo of children dancing to Barney on bass at the April Fool's show at Nassau Coliseum. See photos of Jerry in white shorts and Sting wearing nothing but overalls. |
The Dead spent a total of thirty-three hours and fifty-five minutes playing Drumz and four hours and thirty-three minutes playing Terrapin. |
Copp's Coliseum was a great venue for a Dead show. |
Mean People Suck was the favorite sticker; Air Garcia, the favortie logo. |
The favorite version of Eyes of the World (September 29 at Boston) was also the longest at 17:38. |
The run at the Dean Smith Center precipitated 30 articles in the local press, including a primer for first-time deadheads; expectations for the "perfect deadhead down"; and fears of the local authorities; drug sting operations; nostalgia; reviews; riot reports; and an interview with Garcia and Weir. |
Section 51 was not a great place to sit at Boston Garden. |
The longest song of the year was Terrapin Station (also from September 29th at Boston). It ran 25.45. |
